Tantas vezes na minha vida pedi desculpa s\u00f3 por me sentir triste, zangada ou frustrada. Como se sentir fosse algo mau, e eu devesse \u201ccontrolar-me\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cresci numa casa onde sempre senti n\u00e3o haver espa\u00e7o para os meus sentimentos. Com uma m\u00e3e extremamente sens\u00edvel e reativa, e o meu pai a trabalhar demais, fora de casa sempre que podia e tamb\u00e9m constantemente esgotado, reativo e frustrado com a vida, eu sinceramente n\u00e3o queria ser mais um fardo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descobri recentemente que o meu pai nem sequer sabia (ou tinha reparado) que eu fui v\u00edtima de bullying em crian\u00e7a. Mencionei isso casualmente numa conversa, e ele ficou muito surpreendido. \u201cPorque \u00e9 que n\u00e3o me disseste nada na altura? Eu teria feito alguma coisa.\u201d Sinceramente, j\u00e1 n\u00e3o me lembro se lhe disse alguma coisa nessa altura, mas \u00e9 prov\u00e1vel que n\u00e3o. Contei \u00e0 minha m\u00e3e, que foi ignorada pela escola porque sabiam do seu diagn\u00f3stico (transtorno bipolar e esquizofrenia). Contei tamb\u00e9m ao diretor da escola, n\u00e3o uma, mas duas vezes. Mas escolhi n\u00e3o incomodar a pessoa mais importante da minha vida na altura, e como resultado ele tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o me p\u00f4de ajudar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 medida que fui crescendo sem me curar, o padr\u00e3o voltou a repetir-se. E l\u00e1 estava eu, numa rela\u00e7\u00e3o com uma pessoa que ficava muito desconfort\u00e1vel com demonstra\u00e7\u00f5es emocionais como o choro, a tentar ao m\u00e1ximo conter-me, enquanto o meu mundo inteiro desabava.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quando finalmente dizia basta e decidia sair da rela\u00e7\u00e3o, as pessoas \u00e0 minha volta ficavam surpreendidas, dizendo que nunca pensaram que a nossa rela\u00e7\u00e3o acabasse e que nunca sequer imaginaram que eu me sentia t\u00e3o mal. Nem o meu parceiro percebia. Acho que ainda sou muito boa a esconder o que sinto, mesmo sentindo tudo profundamente. Ou talvez simplesmente continuasse a rodear-me de pessoas que n\u00e3o queriam ver. Talvez as duas coisas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sorry To Bother foi escrita h\u00e1 cinco anos atr\u00e1s, poucos dias depois de mais um anivers\u00e1rio de rela\u00e7\u00e3o que n\u00e3o celebr\u00e1mos porque havia algo por resolver, como quase sempre. Mais uma vez, a m\u00fasica foi a minha fuga \u2014 a minha forma de expressar os sentimentos mais profundos, de tentar sentir-me ouvida quando sentia que mais ningu\u00e9m escutava ou queria saber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoje, j\u00e1 n\u00e3o pe\u00e7o desculpa por sentir nem por falar sobre o que sinto. Porque \u00e9 suposto sentirmos \u2014 seja positivo ou negativo, bom ou mau. \u00c9 a linguagem do nosso corpo, muito mais instintiva e primitiva do que os pensamentos da mente. E se algu\u00e9m n\u00e3o se sente bem com o facto de eu dizer \u201cEu sinto\u2026\u201d, encaro isso como um sinal de alerta \u2014 n\u00e3o sobre mim, mas sobre essa pessoa: algu\u00e9m que n\u00e3o consegue tolerar os sentimentos dos outr@s, ficando desconfort\u00e1vel, defensiv@ ou at\u00e9 ofendid@, \u00e9 algu\u00e9m que ainda tem trabalho a fazer nesta \u00e1rea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e3o estou a dizer que \u00e9 certo usar os  sentimentos como desculpa para se ser ofensiv@, para gritar ou mesmo para se ser passiv@-agressiv@ (o sarcasmo inclui-se aqui, pois \u00e9 uma forma de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o nociva); o que estou a dizer \u00e9 que \u00e9 saud\u00e1vel assumir o que se sente, nomear os sentimentos e pedir tempo para sentires (por exemplo: \u201cNeste momento estou muito zangada e preciso de algum tempo para processar isto. Depois falamos sobre o assunto.\u201d \u2013 um exemplo de uma frase honesta e respeitosa, em que algu\u00e9m nomeia o que sente e d\u00e1 um passo atr\u00e1s para processar a emo\u00e7\u00e3o).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Se o sentes, \u00e9 v\u00e1lido. Ouve o teu corpo. Deixa sair. N\u00e3o guardes isso dentro. \u00c9 a\u00ed que as coisas acabam por se manifestar em algo a que chamamos \u201cdoen\u00e7as\u201d, sendo o cancro o exemplo mais evidente, pois \u00e9 auto-infligido. As c\u00e9lulas anormais n\u00e3o aparecem do nada \u2014 s\u00e3o o grito mais poderoso do corpo a pedir ajuda. Sente mais, pensa menos. Pensar \u00e9 apenas a forma que a mente tem de tentar interpretar os sentimentos de uma maneira objetiva, o que nunca resulta totalmente; pensa em como a linguagem minimiza a realidade: a palavra \u201crosa\u201d nunca poder\u00e1 transmitir a realidade de uma rosa verdadeira, por mais palavras que juntes para a descrever. O sentir de uma rosa \u2014 toc\u00e1-la, cheir\u00e1-la, v\u00ea-la \u2014 n\u00e3o pode ser descrito pela mente com precis\u00e3o. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E qual \u00e9 o prop\u00f3sito de sentir? \u00c9 aprender quem realmente \u00e9s, o que realmente gostas ou n\u00e3o, apesar das conven\u00e7\u00f5es, regras e condicionamentos da sociedade. E tamb\u00e9m, aprender quem os outros realmente s\u00e3o. Quando mostras os teus sentimentos, as pessoas naturalmente mostram quem realmente s\u00e3o: se ficam desconfort\u00e1veis, \u00e9 porque est\u00e3o desconfort\u00e1veis ou desligadas dos pr\u00f3prios sentimentos. Se se sentem ofendidas ou defensivas, \u00e9 porque n\u00e3o t\u00eam seguran\u00e7a em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a quem s\u00e3o ou ao que sentem, e acabam por tomar os teus sentimentos como uma ofensa ou ataque pessoal, transformando-se num espelho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Permitir que algu\u00e9m sinta, abrir esse espa\u00e7o seguro \u2014 n\u00e3o apenas para um sentimento espec\u00edfico, mas para todos eles, para tudo o que nos torna quem somos \u2014 permitir a express\u00e3o desses sentimentos, dos pensamentos que nascem a partir deles\u2026 para mim, isso \u00e9 a defini\u00e7\u00e3o de amor verdadeiro.
